The market for lawyers

Thursday, June 16th 2022

There is a statement that it is impossible to create a new market because the basic needs remain constant, although changes can be found in the current market.

I can't agree nor disagree, but it seems like lawyers literally built a new market with all these cookie, privacy, and other legal statements and agreements for sites.

I have nothing against lawyers; society rely on them to stay on the right side of the law. However, by forcing sites to post policies, they created a new market with an enormous return on investment. Okay, I understand that preparing legal documents is a hard process. I'm fine with paying a fixed price for well-prepared papers, but charging a monthly fee of $20 for automatically generated documents makes no sense.

For mature and popular web sites, it is critical to have everything in place with legal agreements, mostly to defend them from tedious inquiries. Working on legal documentation, on the other hand, has always been a huge waste of time for young entrepreneurs. Because the tech business is strongly based on big tech technologies, we can't avoid doing such work. It was at this point that a new market for lawyers formed.
