Learn from any circumstance

Reading a book about the incredibly dedicated Norwegian polar explorer Roald Amundsen. He never accepted defeat and constantly attempted to learn from any circumstance, which was the quality I appreciated the most. Even in the worst case scenario, when the entire crew began to go nuts and despondent, he continued to make notes about the equipment, the weather, and how to stay positive. Most likely, this made him the first person to reach the South Pole.

Nothing seems to have changed significantly since then, in my opinion. Instead of learning from the current situation, most people get depressed, giving up, or wait for better circumstances.

But the best source of wisdom ever is what you become in a difficult situation. Conditions that are difficult to deal with are the best teachers.

Therefore, never lose sight of your ultimate aim and do allow circumstances to alter your course, even if they seem difficult to accept, such as a mass layoff, a recession, or something much worse. There is always a choice available. Make wise decisions and never stop learning from any situations.
